ANDERSON, Helen May 94, stepped into eternity on December 17, 2013 at her home, Arrowsmith Lodge in Parksville, BC with her 3 "Angels" close by. Born December 31, 1918 on a Milk River, Alberta homestead to Harry and Sylvia Lorentzon. She grew up, married Richard Anderson March 1, 1939 in Lethbridge, Alberta, raised 3 daughters in Lethbridge and at their farm in Stavely. Retiring to Kelowna in 1978 she shared her love of square dancing, homemaking, sewing, cooking, travelling, boating, entertaining and gardening. She moved to Vancouver Island March 2006 living the last 5 1/2 years at Arrowsmith Lodge. Predeceased by husband Richard, sisters; Grace & Gladys, brothers; Roy & Fred, son in law Frank and grandson Kent. Survived by daughters; Marilynn Kathrein (Michael) Allen, Donna (Phil) Kennedy and Bonnie Anderson (Varnel), grandchildren; Kim Kathrein, Todd (Carolyn) Kennedy, Jill (Pieter) Stathis, Dean Kennedy, Don Varnel, Natasha (Cary) Skidmore, Sean Varnel and Roxanne Kathrein, great grandchildren; Meghan, Carter, Olivia & Alexander and 2 sisters in law; Thelma Lorentzon & Olive Anderson. A Celebration of Life was held on the afternoon of December 27, 2013 at The Crown Isle, Parksville. "She will be greatly missed for her quick wit and ready smile"

DeROSIER (MOILLIET) JEANNE KEIR March 27, 1949 - December 12, 2013 Jeanne passed away suddenly but peacefully in Yuma, Arizona. Jeanne was the beloved wife, companion and best friend of Barry DeRosier of Summerland, adored mother of Neil Bernstien, of New Westminister, Deanna DeRosier (Lance) of Mission and Trina DeRosier of Summerland. Loved and cherished Oma of grandchildren, Michael, Melyssa, Christopher, George, Nikkita and Robert and great grandchildren, Eva and Olivia. Jeanne was predeceased by her parents Ted and Dora Moilliet as well as her brother Eric (2003) and sister Linda (2009). Jeanne will be lovingly missed, and always loved, by sisters Joyce Lovelace (Bill), Sundre Ab., Mary Moilliet (Tom) Kaleden and Madeline Moilliet of Vernon and many nieces and nephews. Jeanne was born in Kamloops, BC and lived on the family ranch in Vavenby until she was 11. In 1960 the family moved to Vernon and then in 1964 moved to Summerland where Jeanne met Barry DeRosier, they fell in love and married in 1968, together having three children, Neil, Deanna and Trina. Barry and Jeanne's career with the Overwaitea Food Group, took them to ten communities in BC, where Jeanne was a loyal and strong supporter. Jeanne managed all related personal moving requirements for these transfers. Jeanne made many friends in all the communities they moved to and kept in touch with many over the years. Jeanne's unconditional love of life, family and friends, bubbling personality and contagious laugh will be deeply missed by all who knew her. After retiring in 2008, Jeanne and Barry moved back to Summerland in 2011. Jeanne was also a recent survivor of breast cancer in 2013. There will be a service and celebration of life Saturday March 29th, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., at the Holy Child Catholic Church in Summerland BC. In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

TEIPEL, Andrew Owen Passed away after a strong and courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at the age of 54. Survived by his loving wife Lissie who was at his side in his passing, son Maximo, his father Alois of Kelowna, nephew Andrew of Saskatchewan, his friends here in Kelowna and extended relatives in Germany. FOX, MARGERY Suddenly, on December 27, 2013, Margery May Fox (nee Pettit), much loved wife of Doug and mother of daughter Kathryn, died in a motor vehicle accident. Margery was predeceased by father Cliff, mother Jean and her dear sister Nona Lee. A former intensive care pediatric head nurse, Margery had a special fondness for newborns and our young people, was a life long reader and collector of books, and more recently was keenly interested in all things political. She will be very much missed by all who had the good fortune to know and spend time with her. A brief memorial service, followed by tea, will be held at the Summerland United Church at 1PM on January 10, 2014.

Survived by brother Terry (Elaine) Swan of Penticton, niece Nancy (Darren) Berg of Castlegar, BC and great-niece Emily Berg of Castlegar, BC. Predeceased by her parents Alta and Edward Swan of Summerland and sister Eleanor and brother-in-law Dave Barnard. Predeceased by her faithful, loving dog Oliver Barrett Swan on July 22, 2011. DAFOE, LAURA BONNIE: Oct. 7, 1917 - Dec. 15, 2013 Bonnie passed away peacefully on December 15th at Summerland Seniors Village at the age of 96. Born in Ottawa, Bonnie arrived in Penticton with her family aboard the S.S. Sicamous in 1921. Predeceased by her brother Van Dafoe in 1981, and her sister Eleanor Dalby (Dafoe) in 1991, Bonnie will be lovingly remembered by her nieces, Trudy Garnons-Williams (Dafoe), Claire Kelly (Dalby), Dorothy Waycott (Dafoe), Frances Jonson (Dalby), and 10 great nieces and nephews. A gifted writer, Bonnie has left a rich legacy of her journals, poems and vignettes, three of which were recently published in the book "Tales Out Of School". As a young girl, her poetry and short compositions appeared frequently on the Young Co-Operators Page of the Western Producer, and reflected her great love of the Okanagan. An accomplished pianist, Bonne earned her ARCT in piano and frequently accompanied choirs, soloists and musical productions. She received great joy and satisfaction from her lifelong love of music. Bonnie was also a keen photographer and loved to travel, including trips to the Maritimes, Hawaii, Europe, and her much loved dude-ranch in the Caribou. She hiked with the South Okanagan Naturalists Club and swam in Okanagan and Skaha Lakes until she was well into her seventies. Bonnie enjoyed a successful and satisfying career as a legal stenographer. Held in high regard by her employers Boyle & Co. and Kinsmen & Co., she completed her working days at Penticton City Hall in 1982. A longtime member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, Canadian Club and Community Concerts Association, Bonnie also volunteered for the Okanagan Valley Music Festival. You live on in us in so many ways and we will miss you. By request, there will be no service. A special thank you to the staff at Summerland Seniors Village for the kind and compassionate care that Bonnie received during the past six years.

She is survived by her brother Dennis (Fran) and her sister Mary (Ginette) and her nieces and nephews Kelly, Theresa, Pearce, Stefan and Leah. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Harry and Joyce Richardson. Linda faced many challenges, but met them with grace and a fierce determination, supported by her family and large circle of loyal and caring friends. She was loved for her generous spirit and her unique sense of humor. McLELLAN, HEATHER MAE January 7, 1950 - January 1, 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Heather. Following a lengthy battle with cancer, Heather left us on New Year's Day. During her entire career, Heather worked in the "Legal" arena as a secretary and later as a Legal Assistant until her illness dictated retirement. She is survived by her partner of 16 years, Blair Barker; her Father, Leslie (Iris); her Mother, Pamela; Brother, Bruce (Susan); Niece, Laura Watling (Gordon); Nephew, David; and Great-Nephew, Jaxon Watling. LEIGH, LAURA M. May 9, 1914 - Dec 22, 2013 Laura Magdeline Leigh passed away at the age of 99 at the Haven Hill Retirement Center in Penticton BC. She was born on May 9th, 1914 in Dooley Montana, the daughter of Olive and Charles Lee. Laura grew up in Strasbourg, Sask and later moved to Choiceland, Sask where her step-father, Charles Emanuelson, acquired a nearby farm. She married John Leigh on Oct. 24, 1939. They farmed near Choiceland until 1953 when they moved to Saskatoon. She resided there until 2005 when she moved to Penticton, BC. Laura lived a long and full life. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and a true and faithful friend. She was an active member of her community. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Choiceland and St. Mark's Anglican Church in Saskatoon. She was employed for many years at Meads Drugstore in Saskatoon. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, reading and bingo and she was an avid fan of both golf and curling. She was pre-deceased by her three sisters: Eileen Emanuelson, Helen Baerwald, Dorothy Cowles, and a brother, Willard Lee, her husband, John Leigh and her second husband, George Maruk. She is survived by her son, Barry Leigh (Gail), step-grandchildren, James and Brenda Lannard and great grandchildren, Evan and Rhys. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews to mourn her passing. A sincere "Thank You" is sent to Dr. A. Pugachev, the staff at Haven Hill retirement Center and the staff and home care workers at Charles Manor. A graveside memorial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Saskatoon will be held later in 2014.

LEMAIRE, Robert (Bob) Joseph Olivier Bob (82), passed peacefully at home on December 30th, 2013. We lovingly remember him as a strong man with a gentle heart, a charming sense of humour and a disarming pair of baby-blues. Bob was a beloved husband to Mary (Bittman); father to Mary Lynne (Matheson); "Grampa" to Reganne, Ryan and Whitney; great-grand "Papa" to Daisy; and dear friend to many more. He was also a soldier who served bravely and honourably in the Korean War with the Royal Canadian Regiment. Bob loved to sing, and lent his talents to many church choirs, community theatre performances and family gatherings over the years. The heavenly chorus is lucky to have the rich, deep voice that delighted us here on earth. The family will be honouring Bob's memory privately, and are grateful for your thoughts and prayers. BOON, Michael "Mike" January 21, 1930 - January 5, 2014 Our beloved husband, father and friend, Mike passed away after a long journey with vascular dementia. POW, Florence Irene (nee: Harrop) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Irene Pow, on January 1st, 2014 at Heron Grove in Vernon. Irene was born on October 22nd, 1917 in Manitoba. She attended school in Armstrong and was a long time resident of that community. Irene spent the majority of her life as a farmer with her husband, Bernard, who passed away in 1975. Irene will be greatly missed by her loving sons: Ken (Cheryl), Ernest (Linda), Mark (Luby) and daughter, Carole (John); plus many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Wayne. A Celebration of Life will be held later this year in order for her many grandchildren to be able to attend. BALAS, HANNAH ELIZABETH 1916 - 2013 Hannah Elizabeth Balas passed away on December 18, 2013 at the age of 97 years following a short stay in the Penticton Regional Hospital. Hannah was predeceased by her first husband, Ken Stewart, in 1959 and her second husband, Ed Balas, in 1983. She was also predeceased by her son Bill Stewart of Langley, BC, her daughter Carol Murray of Penticton and her granddaughter Shelley Murray or Trail, BC. Hannah is survived by her sister Madeline Heinrich of Penticton, son-in-law Herb Murray of Penticton, daughter-in-law Sharlene Stewart of Summerland and her daughter Lorraine (Lori) Cyra of Naramata. She leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. A memorial is planned in Penticton on May 31, 2014 which would have been Hannah's 98th birthday. Following cremation, Hannah will be interred in the Keremeos Cemetery near other family members.

SANDERS, Mark Richard (Sparky) Mark Richard (Sparky) Sanders passed away on December 19, 2013 with his wife and children by his side. Mark was born May 26, 1962 to John and Georgianne Sanders in Penticton, BC. Mark was raised in Keremeos, BC, spending most of his adult life in Kelowna, BC. He was the superintendent for R & L Excavating, and with over thirty years of experience in the heavy construction industry, he was awarded his Gold Seal Certification for excellence in Construction Management. Sparky loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and music were his greatest passions. He is survived by his wife Irene (nee Meekes), son Jesse, daughter Jaime, parents John and Georgianne Sanders, brothers George, Stephen, and Robert, and sister Liza Needham (nee Sanders). Mark will be dearly remembered by his large family and many friends. To honour Sparky's great love of the outdoors, a Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring of 2014, public notification to follow.
