Predeceased by her mother, Mona McDonald in 2011 and father, Bud in 2012. Cathie is survived by her daughter, Melanie Gray of West Kelowna and the light of her eyes, her granddaughter, Briana. Also holding onto memories of her are sisters, Kim (Tony) Acland of Okanagan Falls, Karen (Barry) Nakonecheny of Kamloops; brother, Jim (Pam) McDonald of Fort Nelson and sister, Carolyn (Devon) Gray of Fort St. John; nieces, Sara and Kayla Nakonecheny, Jocelyn McDonald; nephew, James McDonald and youngest nieces, Mackenzie and Madison Gray will also miss Auntie Cathie. MCCRINDLE, CHRIS It is with great sadness that the family of Chris McCrindle announces his sudden passing. He is survived by his wife and family, one daughter, one son and two brothers. He was born in Crystal City, Manitoba on May 25, 1940. Chris served 39 years for the Ontario Fire Fighter Services, retiring in 1999 as Deputy Fire Chief of the Kenora Fire Department. He was a long time member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #12, The Army, Navy & Air Force Veterans in Canada Unit #97, The Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #4281 of Penticton, BC. He was a Mason & a Shriner. Chris belonged to Lake of the Woods Shrine Club, Khartum Shriners of Winnipeg, The Penticton Shrine Club and Gizeh Shriners of BC. SPALDING, JOAN MARILYN (nee MORRIS) Passed away peacefully in her home at Haven Hill Retirement Centre on November 4, 2012. Marilyn was born in Guelph Ontario on March 31, 1933 to parents Evelyn and Glen. She was married in 1954 to Robert William Spalding of Preston Ontario. Living in Kitchener they began their family with the addition of three children. In 1972 the family moved to Salmon Arm where Marilyn worked in retail while raising her family. In 1992 following the passing of her beloved husband, she moved to Penticton to help run the family coffee bar (The Spotted Dog). Marilyn retired and settled into the role as grandmother (Nana) to Nolan Spalding in 2000. At that time she also enjoyed volunteering at the Penticton Retirement Center gift shop. He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Desharnais (Wayne) and his son, Jack Young (Heather); grandchildren, Stacey Desharnais, Drew Desharnais, Melissa Wenger (Jamie), Adrienne Young and Erica Young (Bryan) as well as brothers, Herb Young, Ken Young (Gladis) and sister, Vivienne Corsie (John) and many nephews and nieces. JENKINS, JEAN Jean Jenkins passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November 4, 2012 in Penticton at the age of 90 years. DODDS, Marguerite 102, of Kelowna, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Sun Pointe in Rutland. She was born Marguerite Anne Emma Vandendriessche in Weyburn, Saskatchewan on October 23, 1910. She graduated from Weyburn Collegiate in 1928, and graduated as a Registered Nurse on May 9, 1933 from the Grey Nuns School of Nursing in Regina. She worked at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, at Seton Hospital in Jasper, and at the Kelowna General. Marguerite married Earl Dodds on November 26, 1939 in Edmonton and they moved to Kelowna in 1948. They had six children: Bert Dodds (deceased), Beverley Woodward (Gordon); Betty Timuss; Marvin Dodds (Terry); Kenneth Dodds (Norma); Peggy Kinley (George). She has 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Marguerite is survived by her sisters, Alice Vandendriessche, Blanche Keating and Doris Vandendriesshe. ANDERSON, Lloyd Albert 73, died peacefully November 5, 2012 at Brookhaven Care Facility in West Kelowna. Lloyd was born February 2, 1939 in Camrose, Alberta to James and Helen Anderson. Lloyd graduated high school in Bawlf, and went on to complete a Mechanical Engineering degree at the University of Alberta. He married Lona Lindroth in 1962, and pursued a career in Engineering in the Okanagan Valley where they raised two sons, Kenneth and Douglas. While in Summerland, Lloyd was very active in the Rotary Club, local community groups and a member of the school board. In 1985, Lloyd completed his Master's degree in Urban Land Development at the University of British Columbia and went on to work on the Expo 86 project in Vancouver. His love of travel led him into a career building expo pavilions in the US, Spain and his favorite, Australia where he spent much of the latter part of his life. HOFFMAN, Frederick (Fred) Nov. 17, 1922 - Oct. 26, 2012 After nearly 90 years of a life well lived our father, grandfather and great grandfather has been granted his eternal rest. Fred started life as a Saskatchewan farm boy. On March 25, 1944 he married Clara Zollner. He served his country during WW II and then built a career in housing construction. Later in life he fulfilled a long held dream of owning and operating a campground in the Okanagan. Upon retirement Fred and Clara moved to Kelowna. They enjoyed life there with friends and visits from family. With the passing of Clara in 2007, Fred moved to Edmonton to be closer to his children and their families. Cherishing many fond memories are Fred and Clara's children and their spouses, Norma Jean & Cliff Huculak, Donna & Rick Sukovieff, and Doug and Linda Hoffman. TWEEDY, GLENN: Sept. 1, 1925 - Nov. 8, 2012 Glenn passed away at his home in Mariposa, where he was loved by his caregivers and treated with dignity and respect. His life is Osoyoos began in 1934, brought here by his parents, Bertha and Johnstone, along with his five siblings; to join his Mom's family the Pendergrafts. He was very proud and patriotic, joining the Canadian Army in WWII where he met another enlistee, Iris Pembridge. They married in 1946 and immediately homesteaded in Osoyoos never to move away. Glenn began his adult life here as a farmer, but was an entrepreneur in the true sense of the word dealing in fence posts, Christmas trees, and orchard props; in the process hiring hundreds of locals for part-time work for over 50 years. Glenn was renowned for his generosity of spirit. He loved to give and share. His passing will be an understated void in the lives of his family and many, many friends whom he treated like family.
