BRINNER, ILSE GERTRUD 1927 - 2013 Passed away at Moog and Friends Hospice May 10, 2013, nine days short of her 86th birthday, after a valiant fight with cancer and with her family at her side. She is survived by one brother, Erich of Germany; four daughters, Eva of Brno, Czech Republic, Hana (Luis Rocha) of Penticton, Monika (Vlastimil Koska) of Decin, Czech Republic and Marcela of Delta, Ontario; seven grandchildren, Vladena, Eva, Monika (David), Milan, Marcel, Vlastimil and Petr; eight great grandchildren, Stepanka, Denisa, Adam, Nico, Danika, Lauren, Milan and Sophie. Predeceased by husband, Bela Brinner in March 1977; son in laws, Oldrich Joks and Vladimir Korber as well as sisters, Isolde and Martha. Ilse was born May 19, 1927 to Anna and Josef Hillmann in Mehderitzch, East Germany where at age 21, she met her first husband Bohumil Kubat and after a storybook wedding at the Blue Salon in the Dresden Palace she moved to Czechoslovakia in 1950. In 1968, Ilse came to Canada and began her new life in the "best place on earth". She had many careers in her life, driving an industrial crane, nursing aid and kitchen aid at Haven Hill and working at Woodward's. In her retirement years, she made many trips to different countries and loved visiting family and friends. Mom spent the last five years in assisted living at the Village by the Station where she was very happy. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Dr. Germain and his team, Dr. Bakala and Dr. Moshaver as well as the volunteers and the amazing staff at the Kelowna Cancer Centre for the care given to mom. We cannot thank her family physician, Dr. Timothy Phillips, enough for the truly loving and superb care he gave mom over the years. Thanks also to the staff and volunteers at Moog Hospice, especially the day shift on the 10th of May - you are truly admired for a job well done. Special thanks for Mr. Simon Funk who played beautiful German music at her bedside in Hospice. To the staff at the Village by the Station, you truly made a difference in Mom's life and to Jet, Kim and Tammy, we will not forget your loving care. BERGER, Marie Claire November 7, 1939 - May 11, 2013. Marie was surrounded by many of her loved ones when she peacefully went to meet Saint Peter at the gates at the age of 73. Survived by her loving family, husband Hans; sons: Joe (Linda), Martin (Cindy); daughters: Louise, Linda (Len); and 10 grandchildren: Madison, Meagan, Ryan, Sydney, Cassity, Logan, Samantha, Miranda, Renee, Maxwell; and many nieces and nephews. Marie was the sixth of nine children: Terry, Angele (predeceased), Monique, Rose-Anna, Hector, Hortense, Omer and Suzanne. She was born to Annette and Gerard Gauvin in St. Paul, Alberta in 1939. At the age of nineteen Marie moved to Edmonton and worked as a dental assistant where she met her sweetheart of 54 years, Hans. They married in 1959 and had their first three children Joe, Louise and Linda prior to moving to Kelowna in 1966 where Martin was born. Mom, grandma was a kind, loving, compassionate, woman who was the best listener. She had many hobbies: gardening, quilting, golf, bocce and was an active member in many clubs over the years: 4H, CWL, quilting and the prolife thrift shop. Although it was originally believed she was suffering with Alzheimer's she eventually was diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. She faced her illness with bravery and dignity until she succumbed to it. Our family would like to thank the staff at Brandt's Creek Mews and Hawthorne Park for their kindness and support. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1077 Fuller Ave., Kelowna on Thursday, May 16th, 2013 at 1:30 PM with reception to follow at Kelowna Golf & Country Club, 1297 Glenmore Dr., Kelowna. A private family inurnment will take place in the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society in memory of Marie. MUDIE, Effie Louise Died peacefully on Thursday, May 2, 2013. Effie is survived by her loving daughters: Dolores Gooliaff and Maureen van Leur, both of Kelowna. Also, 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Effie is predeceased by her loving husband Mickey, her son Ted, daughter Penny and granddaughter Trisha. Effie was born on October 4, 1918 in Grand Forks, BC. She married Mickey on Jan. 23rd, 1939. Effie was a devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister. Effie loved visiting with family and friends. Effie enjoyed sewing, knitting, crossword puzzles and was known to always have a book nearby. Her sharp memory was evident right to the end - the day before Effie died, she identified numerous people in pictures she hadn't seen for almost 60 years. Effie was a Rebeccah Lodge member for many years. Effie & Mickey moved to Kelowna in 1971. There will be a Celebration of Life tea on Fri., May 17th from 2-4 PM at Sun Pointe Village. Inurnment of Effie's cremains will be held on Sunday, May 19th, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Grand Forks Evergreen Cemetery, followed by a gathering of family and friends at the Grand Forks Royal Canadian Legion. DUGGAN, Terrence (Terry) It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Terrence Michael (Terry) Duggan on May 7, 2013 at the age of 56 years. Terry was predeceased by his father, Lloyd Duggan, and by his paternal and maternal grandparents. Terry is survived by his wife, Susan; his children, Tim (Erin), Jeff (Tanya) and Pamela; his mother, Arlene; his brothers and sisters Bob Duggan, Sherri Friedrich (Dieter), Kathy Neid and Mark Duggan (Christine); and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Terry was born in Kelowna in 1956, and for his entire life he was proud to make the Okanagan Valley his home. He loved the outdoors, whether working outside in his garden or taking long walks in the hills above his home. He also loved local music and arts events, and was a proud contributor to Creative Chaos, the Vernon Farmer's Market, the Rare Earth music festival, and numerous other community events. He was also a long time volunteer with Scouts Canada (6th Vernon), and was recognized with awards for his years of service. Terry had a unique gift for seeking and seeing the best in people, and had a knack for always seeing the glass as half full. Those of us who he has left behind will do our best to live as he would have wanted: Celebrate the wonders of life; Spend time with the people that you love; Treat others with kindness, respect and consideration. Terry's family will be having a private celebration of Terry's life. Following this, Terry's friends are welcome to come to Terry's home after 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2013 to remember this man who meant so much to all of us. Those who wish to attend are asked to bring a flower to plant in a memorial garden in his honour.

RAMPONE, Albert Peter Albert, son of Domenico and Giuseppina Rampone (Borgnetta), passed away quietly on Monday, May 14, 2013 in Kelowna, BC. Albert was born on February 11, 1924 on St. Paul Street in Kelowna, moving to the Benvoulin Rd. farm in 1926 where he lived until moving to their Lanfranco Rd. condo in 1995. In 1946 Albert married Rose Barrera, an incredible lady whom he had grown up with. Together they built their house on the farm as well as a very successful dairy farm for which Albert won "Grassman of the Year" three times, the top honour in the whole Okanagan. They also operated a mail order business, supplying Italian families in Alberta and British Columbia with their winter supply of peppers and eggplants. As their kids grew up they were the backbone of the roadside stand Don-O-Ray Vegetables. Albert is survived by his wife Rose Barrera; their three sons: Ray (Linda Lang), Don (Jane Wong) and John (Tammy Avis) from Nelson; granddaughter Lori (Darrel Placide); great granddaughter Nevaeh Placide; nephew Domenic Rampone (Lina), Yorkton, SK; two nieces: Josie and Ruthie Genievich, Berkeley, CA. DELOLI, Edward June 19th, 1917 - May 7th, 2013 It is with extreme sadness that Edward's family announces his passing. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Corinne (Jim) Gutka of Saratoga Beach, Vancouver Island and his son Michael Deloli of Kelowna, as well, his legacy will live on through his future generations. He is survived by his five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Family from Winnipeg include Dean (Ryan and Jesse), Deb (Antonio and Tristan) and from Kelowna Joel, Dustin (Jesse and Aurora and Adam (Addison). Edward is predeceased by his infant daughter in 1945, wife Jessie in November 1983 and his son Vic in August 2012. Dad was born in Winnipeg. His family immigrated to Canada from Naples, Italy and Sussex, England. Edward was a WWII veteran and a member of the Lake Superior Regiment. He was involved over the years with the Legion and Masonic. Dad's postings took him from Winnipeg to Germany, Montreal, Churchill and Saskatoon. He moved with family in 2000 to the beautiful Okanagan and made Kelowna his home. Dad was extremely proud of his Italian heritage and enjoyed life to the fullest. He had many passions including his love of golfing, dancing, badminton, cards, entertaining and being the life of the party. Dad lived his life from beginning to end following Frank Sinatra's song (I did it my way). A Family Celebration of Edward's Life will be held at Bertram Creek, enjoying Dad's love of fine Italian wine and wonderful Mediterranean food. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful staff at Three Links Manor for the care given to Edward and his family these past five years, as well, thank you to Dr. James Allison for always going above and beyond to keep the lines of communication open. Kevin was a member of 1955 Penticton Vees Hockey World Championship Team and continued to engage his love of the game by coaching many teams, running hockey schools and he cherished his role as ambassador of the game once retired. Kevin was also a successful businessman in many ventures but notably Kev Conway's Carmi Chevron, the Dairy Queen and being the first Self-Serve gas station agent for Chevron Canada. NICU, Petru "Peter" Within hours after performing his duty as a citizen of British Columbia by exercising his right to vote, Peter Nicu passed away peacefully at Cottonwoods Extended Care Centre. He was a World War II veteran, a brilliant machinist, a passionate musician as well as a loving, sharing and caring human being. Peter was the "Father of Ogopogo" - At the request of the City of Kelowna he engineered and built an amphibious mechanical Ogopogo, which was presented for many years in Kelowna parades. Peter will be fondly remembered by Elsie, Kay, Mike, Nadia, Ray and many, many other dear friends.
