COONEY, Joseph James Ronald (Ron) It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we must say goodbye to an amazing husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Ron was a loving, kind man who never had a harsh word for anyone. He was a gentle man of few words, but brought great joy to the whole family. Ron was born on July 9, 1929 in Portage la Foret, Quebec and passed away peacefully in Kelowna, BC on January 27, 2013 at the age of 83 years. Mom was surrounded by the music that she loved and in the arms of her daughter, Sharie. Mom was born in Hillcrest, Alberta, January 31, 1916 to John and Catherine Norton. Mom was a long time resident of Nelson, BC before retiring in Kelowna to be closer to her family. Mom was predeceased by her daughter Patsy DuBois (1937-1941), her son Dean Martell (1945-2003) and long time dear friend and companion Bob Carlson (1998). SEGUIN, Audrey Was born August 1924 in Chu Chua, BC and when she was six the family pulled up stakes to homestead in Cecil Lake. Audrey taught school in Rose Prairie, where she met Dale, and they were married on February 14th, 1947. She devoted her life to Dale and raising her 3 children. In 1961 they found themselves back farming on the original homestead. In 1975 Audrey and Dale retired from farming and moved to the Okanagan from where they travelled to many locales. Everyone who met her enjoyed her generosity, kindness, smiles and hugs. That kindness and generosity will live on in the hearts of her children, Terry (Janice), (Al West), and George (Gayle), grandchildren Sheila (Lee-Al), Dale (Rachel), Tracy (Adrian), Trevor (Kerry), Jorden, Patrick (Angela), and great grandchildren Logan, Haydn, Paisley, Brodie, Joshua, Arwyn and Ella. HOSFIELD, Beatrice Winnifred August 30, 1924 - January 30, 2013 It is with great sadness that the family of Winn Hosfield announces her peaceful passing on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the age of 88 years. Winn lived the first sixty-three years of her life in Winnipeg, Manitoba, marrying Jim, her husband of forty-four years, and raising their two children. Her working career was spent with the Manitoba Government, first with the Examinations Department, then with the Student Aid Branch. After retirement, she moved to Kelowna, B.C. where, over the next twenty-three years, she made significant contributions to St. Michaels and All Angels Anglican Cathedral, the literacy program at Okanagan College, the gift shop in the Kelowna General Hospital, the Canadian Cancer Society, and the Okanagan Mission Activity Centre for Seniors. Mary Teresa Beebe, born to Patrick and Bridget Chambers in Skirdagh, Mayo, Ireland on the 19th of September 1914 went to join her loved ones on January 27th, 2013. Mary was the 2nd oldest of 13 children, and has three younger sisters surviving, Cathy, Pauline and Nancy all in England. Mary married Paul in England in 1941. He predeceased her May 6th, 2008. She was also predeceased by two sons, Barry in 1943 and Earl in 1966. Mieke will be lovingly remembered by her children, Steven of Vancouver and Eric (Tracy) of Toronto, grandson, Tyler, siblings; Diantje of the Netherlands, Zus of the Netherlands, Gerard (Tiny) of the Netherlands, Toosje (Hein) of the Netherlands, Jetty (Jules) of California and sister-in-law, Leny of Penticton. Sadly predeceased by her brother, Harry, brother-in-laws, Simon and Albert. Born and raised in the Netherlands, Mieke spent over 50 years in Canada. She was an incredibly loving mother and grandmother. Mieke took great pride in her work as an electrical draftswoman at CAE in Montreal. An avid gardener, Mieke retired to Penticton, BC to enjoy the beauty of the Okanagan and to spend more time with her devoted brother and sister and their families. Survived by son, Tom (Gill) of Vancouver, daughter, Elizabeth (Justin) Price of Langley, grandchildren Greg (Kathrin), Ross, Justin (Tricia) Price, Paul (Sheri), Jennifer (TJ) Bumby, Neil, Jeffrey Price, great-grandchildren Caelan, Jayna, Jacob, Aliza, Kai, Timmy, Adam, Millen, Blane and Sarah, niece Brenda, nephews Bruce and Brian. Born in Scone, Scotland, Tom immigrated to Canada in 1923 with his family and grew up in the Grandview area of Vancouver. He attended Templeton and Britannia High Schools. In 1940 he enlisted in the Army. He married Mary in 1942. When Tom returned from overseas after the war they lived in the Renfrew Heights area of Vancouver. They moved to Penticton in 1966.
