ROBERTSON, William Ian Died suddenly on January 13, 2013 in Penticton, BC. He was 98. Ian was born May 14, 1914 in Saskatchewan and grew up near Melfort. He met Mildred Spurway, of Calgary, in Pitt Meadows and they married in September 1937. In 1941, he joined the army and was sent to Britain. His stay overseas ended after taking part in a covert, small scale raid against the enemy, which left him with a chronic health condition. Back in Vancouver in 1942, Ian worked for the City of Vancouver Purchasing Department until 1974 and retired as the head of operations of the City's Manitoba Works Yard. During those years, he and Mildred raised Marilyn and Terry in Burnaby. Mildred died in late 1979, but Ian continued spending winters in California, something he and Mildred had done for some years. Dietrich Bonhoeffer Dorothy Jean Tatchell (Nee Inkster), 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 6th, 2013, surrounded by family. Dorothy was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she nurtured what would become a life-long passion for music, reading and sports. It was at the Winnipeg Tennis & Canoe Club where she also nurtured a rare love at-first-sight relationship with Spencer, her future husband. They married in 1947 and spent the next 59 years west of the rockies as they moved throughout the Kootenays, the Cariboo & the Okanagan, including an 18 year stop-over in Salmon Arm before settling in Kelowna to enjoy their retirement years. BEICHMAN, CARROLL Carroll Beichman, born Harriet Childe Aikins, died Tuesday January 8, 2013 in a pedestrian accident in Palms Spring, California. Born October 11, 1928 in Naramata, B.C., she was the daughter of Charles Carroll Colby Aikins of Quebec and Katherine Reed Foster of Vermont. On Oct 10, 1950, she married Arnold Beichman of New York and they made their home in a variety of cities, but always returned to Naramata in the summer until they retired there in 1979. He died February 17, 2010. Carroll is survived by her two sons, Charles and John, and their wives, three grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her two brothers, John and Colby, and her sister, Katinka. A memorial service will take place in Naramata in the early summer. WAINMAN, Kenneth (Ken) Wallace Passed away January 15th, 2013 in his home after a 30 month journey with brain cancer. Holding and loving him as he took his last breath was his wife and best friend Terry and his devoted sister Joy. Ken is also survived by his children, Jen Fletcher (Rob), Rick Wainman (Koa); his step-children Joel Barnes and Kirsten Barnes as well as 4 grandchildren: Laura, Marky, Paeton and Amarina, his brother Don Wainman (Judy) and sister Norma Buder (Bill) and his dog Nyla whom he took to work with him daily. Ken loved spending time with family and friends, walking the dogs, riding his motorcycle, sitting around a campfire, listening to country music, watching a rodeo...he was very talented with his hands and he could fix anything or fabricate something to get a job done...he loved his family so much he would always put them before himself. Ken's memorial service will be on Saturday, February 2nd, 2013 at 3 pm at Grace Lutheran Church, 1162 Hudson Rd, West Kelowna.
