BANHAM, Danny "Dan" David: March 03, 1945 - December 15, 2014 Dan passed away the evening of December 15 in the Kelowna General Hospital. Loving husband of Heather Christine Banham (nee White)and loving father of three sons: Michael James Banham and devoted grand-pop to Emily Christine and Veronica Lynne; Matthew Morris Banham (Vanessa Imai-Richter) and devoted grand-pop to Maite Helena; and Daniel David Banham. Younger brother to Rod Banham (Sophie) and Priscilla Banham and older brother to Penelope Sue Jackson (Colin and three nieces Jodie, Sally and Melissa). Predeceased by his father Morris Banham and his mother Joyce Derris Banham (nee Elliott). Born in Tasmania, Australia, Dan met Heather in England before moving to Canada in 1970. Dan worked and travelled in Australia, England and Canada. He enjoyed playing cricket and other sports and was always curious about how things worked, history and politics. In more recent years he developed a hobby in motor mechanics and was affectionately known as the manager of the family fleet. A private family Celebration of Life was held on December 23, 2014. LOWE, Linda Mary (Cuzzocrea): 1946 - 2014. With deep sadness we announce the death of Linda Mary Lowe at age 68 on December 21, 2014.  Linda passed peacefully after a hard fought battle with cancer. She was born February 16, 1946 to Cyril and Mildred Cuzzocrea in Penticton, BC. Linda grew up in Penticton, also living in Terrace, Kelowna, Grande Prairie and finally Ashton Creek where she spent the last several years working for Interior Health doing a job she loved, working with the elderly. Linda is survived by her loving husband Rick of 47 years; son Rick (Krista) Lowe; daughter Deena (Bill) Lewis; her 5 grandchildren: Christopher, Cody, Amanda, Tristan, and Chance who were the light of her life. Also survived by her siblings: Charlie (Roberta) Cuzzocrea, Tony Cuzzocrea, Angie Becker and Jeanne (Dan) Newbold along with many other family and friends.  She will be dearly missed by her dog Maggie. Special thanks to Dr. America and the caregivers who helped her through the last few difficult months. KUIPER, Liesbert "Bert": passed away peacefully on December 14, 2014 at the age of 91 years. Bert will be lovingly remembered by his children; Charlie Kuiper of Falkland, BC, Sue (Gary) Nelson of Summerland, BC, Carmen Kuiper of Vancouver, BC, 3 grandchildren; Sheila, Devon, Jeremy, 1 great grandchild Levi and 1 brother Mino (Nellie) Kuiper of Merritt, BC. Bert was sadly predeceased by his wife Elza Kuiper. Bert was born in Holland on January 11, 1923 and immigrated to Canada in 1951 with his wife Elza, children Charles and Sue. Carmen came in 1957 settling in Surrey, BC. Bert was employed with BC Hydro until his retirement 1979. Bert and Elza then moved to Summerland in 1991 and to Penticton in 2004. He loved to fish, his garden, always tinkering with something. Pop could fix anything. He recently learned to play crib and was really enjoying the game. He had a sharp and quick mind as well as being a funny guy. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 am April 2, 2015 from Providence's Summerland Chapel, 13205 Rosedale Ave. Summerland. REECE, Milton Newman: Nov. 22, 1926 - Dec. 18, 2014 With sadness, the Reece family announces the passing of Milton Reece at his home on the morning of December 18th, 2014 after a short battle with cancer. Milton was born in Kelowna, B.C. and resided in Westbank all of his life. His parents, Thomas and Eleanor Reece moved to Westbank in 1923 from Manitoba. He and his brothers took over the family orchards and packing house business in 1947. Later, in 1958 just two brothers, Milton and Nelson made Westbank Orchards into a limited company and he retired in 2002. A long-time community supporter, he was a charter member of the Westbank Yacht Club; a volunteer fireman with the Westbank Fire Department, a charter member and past president of the Lions Club of Westbank; he served and was president of the Westbank Irrigation Board for many years; a long- time member of the Kelowna Golf and Country Club, a member of the Peachland Curling Club. He and his wife Esther enjoyed numerous trips to many wonderful places around the world over the years, but mostly he enjoyed his family and friends and golfing buddies. Milton is predeceased by a granddaughter, Rachelle Reece; one sister, Temmie Stafford; and two brothers, Adrian and Nelson Reece. He leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Esther Reece, his two daughters Teri Swift (Derek), Shannon Reece and his son Stuart Reece (Darlene); his four grandchildren, Cheryl MacNamara (Ken), Shane Swift (Theresa), Kip Reece (Kristen) and Melanie Reece, his four great grandchildren, Markus, Abigail, Logan and Sydney, his two sisters Gwen Harding (Ken) and Elizabeth Weddell both in Kelowna, and many nieces and nephews. Milton had a wonderful sense of humour and saw the comical side of life and he was a kind and thoughtful gentleman who kept his family and friends close to his heart and hearth. He is survived by his family, daughter, Judy Guglich, daughter-in-law, Pamela Tkachuk, daughter, Gloria (David) Grykuliak; 9 grandchildren, Nathan, Ryan, Crystal, Tyson, Heather, Wendy (Christopher), Kimberly (Shane), Adam, Kevin; 14 great-grandchildren; two large extended families with numerous step-daughters, step-sons, and step-grandchildren/great grandchildren; brother Sam (Katherine), sister Lillian; numerous nieces and nephews; family and friends. LEAKE, Douglas: of West Bench Drive, and of Sun Village Retirement Center, passed away at Moog House on December 13, 2014. His ship reached the far shore and docked very peacefully. He is survived by his wife Clara, two sisters, Doris Brooke and Joan Potter, and his sons and their families, Colin and Heather Leake,, and Kelvin and Jan Leake, four grandchildren, Sarah, Megan, Amber, and Cassandra, and two great-grandchildren Emma and Gwendolyn. Doug was born October 9,1924, near Alesbury, Saskatchewan. His family moved to Oliver, B.C. in 1937. Doug joined the Navy in August 1944 and was assigned to the frigate HMCS Matane, crossing the Atlantic supporting many merchant ships. He was a long standing member of the Canadian Legion. Doug was a scout master, and played the drums in many dance bands throughout his life. He enjoyed his long employment with the Federal Department of Agriculture, retiring to care for his first wife Lois Eileen who was faced with a diagnosis of cancer. Doug will be interred in the Oliver Cemetary in the spring. The service to be held in April. He is sorely missed.

DAVIES, Edwin, "Bill": 1930 - 2014 On Friday December 19, 2014, Mr. William Edwin Davies of Keremeos passed away at the McKinney Place Extended Care Unit at the age of 84 years. He was predeceased by his son Richard and sister Ann. Bill will be fondly remembered by his loving family including Brenda (Mike), Doug and Bill Jr. (Liana); granddaughter "Jillian"; sisters Joyce, Judy and Penny (Pieter); brother-in-law Jim as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. Bill was baptized into the Lutheran Church and held many offices at Grace Lutheran in Osoyoos. He enjoyed fishing with friends Wayne and Elaine Ritchie and spending time with friends Ron & Shirley Sarsons and family and very special friend Patti Vermiere. Bill also enjoyed travelling and ventured four times to New Zealand. He also visited Regina, Edmonton, Yellowknife as well as many other places in Canada. A memorial service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in the spring of 2015. Donations are gratefully accepted for Grace Lutheran School. HEUCHAN, Bruce: Professional Golfer 1953 - 2014. Bruce passed on December 24 ending a long battle with leukemia. Bruce was an avid golfer from age 7 and lived a life-long dream to compete at the highest levels of the game. As his many friends will attest, this was not an easy or direct journey. He was an accomplished amateur, had a golf scholarship in Georgia, played the Canadian Tour in the mid-70's, became an assistant pro at the Country Club in Kelowna, caddied on the PGA Tour for a long time and then decided he wanted to play competitively once again. Bruce played several years on the Canadian Tour, one season on the South America Tour and in 2003 won the Tour School of the European Senior Tour at age 50. He played 5 full seasons, over 80 tournaments, travelling from the Caribbean throughout Europe, the Middle East and Russia following his dream. Bruce returned to Kelowna in 2009 to support his ailing parents and to receive more regular medical care. Bruce is survived by his sister, Christine Hollander (John) his brother, Ross (Adair) and nieces, Jessica (Scott), Rebecca, Alexis, and nephews, Andrew and Ben. Thank you to the many professionals from BC Health who supported Bruce and to ongoing cancer research. A Wake will be held at Kelowna Springs Golf Club on January 3 from 4-7pm.

LINK, Mary Rose: March 06, 1923 - December 23, 2014. Mary passed away peacefully at the Langley Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. Survived by her husband, Alvin, daughters, Carol, Elizabeth, Sharon, and son Tom (Deb), 11 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren and one sister Cecila Schmidt. Predeceased by her parents Peter and Anna, brothers Peter, Leo, Bill and one sister Elizabeth. Mary and Alvin were married on October 04, 1949. They farmed and raised their family in the Windthorst District, for 25 years, and then retired to Kelowna B.C. In 1974, and enjoyed many winters in Arizona. Moved to Langley, B.C. in 2011. Mary was skilled in her abilities of baking, sewing and her hairdressing career and excelled at the sport of golf. Family and religion were very important to Mary. Funeral mass will be celebrated on December 30 at 11 am at St. Nicholas Church, Langley, B.C. Interment to be held in Windthorst at a later date. DURDON, Angela "Angie": Angela was born April 23, 1930 in Guimbal, Iloilo, Philippines. She passed away peacefully in Penticton on December 21, 2014 at the age of 84 and will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Marie Durdon; ex-husband, Otto Durdon; niece, MaryAnn Esleyer; her brother Jose, (Norma); sister, Helen; brother in-law, Ding; sister in-law, Telly as well as all her cousins, nieces and nephews. May she rest in peace in heaven with her father Domingo and mother Juana Torreblanca; brothers and sisters, Andrew, Junior, Virgie, Fe, Luz, Juanita. Angie, as many friends knew her, came to Canada and worked as a Registered Nurse. She worked at Trinity in Penticton before retiring. MENDEL, Hans: The family of Hans Mendel (Opa) wish to announce the celebration of 92 years of an active, full and wonderful life. Hans was a gentle, generous, and hard working soul who loved gardening, hockey and being outdoors. The most important thing in his life was his family whom he loved dearly. He is remembered by his loving children Robert, James (Donna), Jackie (Dave Pattison); his grandchildren Cassandra, Harrison, Thomas and Griffin; nieces, nephews, sister Clara and friends. Hans was predeceased by his beloved wife Theresa, of 61 years, in September 2011. Hans' life centered around his family, as he set and lived an example of patience, honor and faith. While raising their children Hans and Theresa ran the Kelowna Tobacco Store. He will be remembered for volunteering hundreds of hours helping others, especially at KGH where he proudly wore his red jacket for almost 20 years. BETKE, Gertrud Victoria Irene (nee Ruccius): May 27, 1916 - December 24, 2014. On December 24, 2014, Gertrud Betke of Edmonton, formerly of Kelowna, passed away peacefully at the age of 98 years. Predeceased in 2008 by her husband, Fred Betke, she is survived by their four children: Carl (Doreen) Betke in Edmonton, Arthur (Dorothy) Betke in Prince George, Barbara (Donald) MacKay in Langley and Bernard (Laraine) Betke in Lethbridge as well as her sister Kay Weber in Winnipeg. 11 grandchildren mourn her passing: Heidi Robinson, Monika Edwards, Lorelei Betke and Juliane Zinken; Jeffrey, Jason and Aaron Betke; Genevieve MacKay; Gillian, Katherine and Jonathan Betke; and 16 great-grandchildren. She also leaves many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. EFSTATHIO, Irene: passed away on December 25th at the Andy Moog Hospice after a brief illness of cancer. Irene is survived by her son Thomas and his wife Sharon of Delta and her daughter Gina of Ottawa ON. Her husband, Andy, passed away January 31, 2014. Irene loved to play bridge and was teaching her friends how to play Mahjong. She enjoyed making her own cherry wine and had the greenest of thumbs. Irene was known for transforming Sandbridge into their very own Butchart Gardens. She always had time for those who were home-bound or too shy to come to club house events. Irene was loved by all. Irene and Andy were fortunate to retire at 55 years old and they happily traveled to Yuma, Arizona for over 25 winters and went on over 17 cruises. HEWSON, Marion Evelyn (nee Campbell): Died peacefully in Moog and Friends Hospice House on Dec. 25, 2014 in Penticton, B.C. at the age of 88. Marion is survived by her son Rod (Sylvia), daughter Heather (John) and grandchildren, Genevieve, Jennifer, Megan and Michael. She is predeceased by her granddaughter Monique, sister Isabel Chapman, first husband Bernard St. Denis and second husband Lorne Hewson. Marion was born on June 8, 1926 in Summerland, B.C. to Elizabeth and Ernest Campbell. She graduated from University of British Columbia in 1948 with a degree in Home Economics and teaching. She lived in the lower mainland most of her life and returned to Summerland around 1990 where she resided until her death. A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at 1PM in the Summerland Chapel (13205 Rosedale Ave, Summerland, B.C.), with a reception to follow. FABBI, Allan: Passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2014 in Kelowna, BC. Allan is survived by his two sons, Chris (Karen) and Michael; his five grandchildren, Ben, Max, Rosa, Tyson and Tru. He is also survived by siblings, Phyllis, Lorri and Nadine. Allan was a gentle, ethical, humorous and patient man. Never one to take a back seat to life, he was an adventurous risk-taker and had many outrageous tales to tell, especially from his youth growing up in Summerland, BC, as an adult in Northern BC and two extended VW van tours through Europe, Africa and the Middle East. For 13 years he was co-owner of Fabbi Auto Parts in West Kelowna and enjoyed connecting with people over the parts counter. He was an avid hiker, cyclist, biker and was active in the Kelowna Folk Club and was the creator of the "Eclecticsans Electric" concert series. Thanks to the Apple Grove staff at Brandt's Creek Mews, Karla's Kare and the Chatsworth who were a great support in the last years of Allan's life. Individual donations can be made in Allan's memory to "Plan Canada" in lieu of flowers. He was generous, kind and loved by many. He will be greatly missed. HANCE, Norma Helen (nee Gregory): 1933 - 2014. Norma was born on March 12th 1933 in Calgary, Alberta and passed away peacefully on December 22nd 2014 at Kelowna General Hospital with her loving husband of 33 years, John Gammie at her side. Now resting peacefully she leaves behind many fond memories to her sons, Jim (Jenn) Hance and family of Kelowna, BC, Allen Gammie of Edmonton, AB, brother Lawrence "Joe" (Sharron) Gregory and families all of Calgary, AB as well as numerous friends. Norma put all her heart into working with the children of S.D. 23's Black Mountain Elementary, Kelowna, BC where she was the head secretary from 1975 to 1990. As per the families request there will be no formal service at this time, a celebration of Norma's life will be announced at a further date.
