Grace, Ronald Leo October 26, 1959 - September 18, 2013 It is with great sadness and loss that we announce the passing of our loving son and brother, following a tragic auto accident near Revelstoke, B.C. on Tuesday afternoon. Ron is survived by his loving Mother, Ellen May Grace, his brother Darryl Grace, and his sister Jacqueline Thorney Henderson, including many cousins and aunts. Ron was predeceased by his father John (Jack) Patrick Grace who passed in 1980. Ron was born in Saskatoon, and attended Holliston Public School, and Walter Murray Collegiate, where he played football for the Marauders. Following high school graduation his passion for music took him to school in Nashville where he perfected his steel pedal guitar training. He was a fixture in the Saskatoon music scene playing with well known groups such as Tornado Warning; MacLauchlan, Grace, and Reid; and the band RPM which successfully toured western Canada and Ireland. Ron was often seen playing in The Artful Dodger, Mad Mary's and various other venues throughout the city. He was a marathon long distance runner throughout most of this life and could be seen running the streets of Saskatoon, even in 30 below weather. He eventually ran the Boston Marathon in 1992 completing the race in less than 5 hours. Ron was also employed by the City of Saskatoon Parks Department for many years. In 1988 Ron relocated to Kelowna, B.C. where he continued his love for music, joining forces with the Zamboni Brothers. Ron spent a very happy period of his life with his former partner Kathy Cameron, and most recently with Elaine Hudson, both who share deeply in this tragic loss. Ron was employed by the City of Kelowna for most of his time in the Okanagan. In 2011 Ron selflessly donated his bone marrow and saving the life of his brother Darryl who had leukemia. A celebration of Ron's life will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 1:30pm in the Sheraton Cavalier South Room, Main level, Spadina Crescent, Saskatoon. Please bring your dedications, photos, and music to share. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Sarah McLachlan School of Music, either online www.sarahschoolofmusic.com or by calling Aryana Sye 604-709-4415 ext 206. Cremation and burial to follow.
