CASORSO, JOAN June 26 1928 - February 14, 2014 Joan made the final journey to join her beloved Husband Victor on February 14, 2014. We are comforted with the knowledge that after a Valentine dinner the two will again be off on their next great adventure. Joan's passing leaves a hole in the hearts of her family, friends and the community. She was born in Calgary Alberta, daughter of Ernest and Margaret Macintosh, the family moved to Trail where she grew up and was schooled. After high school she trained as a nurse, that career was to be short and in 1952 she married Victor and moved to Oliver. Their first home was an apartment above the Fire hall where Joan would open the doors for the firemen when the alarm went off at night. The young Couple flourished in our growing community and their love and dedication has been infused into many organizations as witnessed by the number of life memberships they have in many of our volunteer groups. Joan and Victor were honoured with the citizen of the year award in 1996 recognizing their contribution to the community. Joan was laid to rest as she lived, surrounded by family. She will be missed by her children David (Wanda) Casorso, Stanley (Debra) Casorso, Ronald (Ruth) Casorso, Jo-Anne (Alexander "Sandy") Emerson, 11 Grand Children Dean, Steven, Greg, Travis, Amanda, Michael, Jennifer, Jeremy, Dominic, Samantha, Kevin, 4 Great Grand Children - Makayla, Nolan, Jessica and Harley. I know Mom would have wanted to say goodbye and thank you to all her family and friends but there just wasn't time as she had a Valentine dinner date. So from her to all those that have a piece of her in their hearts goodbye and thank you for everything. Our lives and community have been enriched by her presence and she will continue to live in the hearts of all those she has touched. A celebration of Joan's life will be held Saturday March 1, 2:00 pm at the Oliver Alliance Church. Donations to Sunnybank Ladies Auxiliary (Gardens), 6553 Park Drive, Oliver, BC V0H 1T4 in lieu of flowers. Condolences may be directed to the family by visiting www.nunes-pottinger.com

LEONARD, Elsie March 2, 1924 - February 19, 2014 It is with so much love and pride we announce the peaceful passing of Elsie Nellie Leonard (nee Odnokon) on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at the age of 89 years. She will forever be in the hearts of her daughter, Margaret Jean (Gregg) Patterson of Blind Bay, BC and her son and life companion, Kenneth Charles Leonard in Kelowna, BC who were both with her to the end of her journey. She will be cherished as the most special Gramma to Bradley Leonard Baker of Calgary, Lorretta Jean Baker of Kamloops, BC and Wendy Leigh Baker of Fort St. John, BC. Her love also surrounded her great grandchildren, James Baker (Sasha), Brittni-Jean Baker and Nichole Rae Baker all of Kamloops, BC as well as grandson-in-law Paul Robinson (Terry Marie Miller) "and company" of Monty Lake, BC; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and the extended Leonard Family of Eastern Canada are fondly remembered in our thoughts for their kindness. Elsie will now be reunited with her loving husband of 58 years, Arthur Charles Leonard who predeceased her on March 1, 2003. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by three sisters and one brother. Elsie was born to Charles and Nellie Odnokon in Saskatchewan. She met and married (Victoria, BC) Art in 1943 and lived in Montreal where Art was from. Marg and Ken were born in Montreal and after Art's service with the Royal Canadian Navy they moved to Loon Lake, SK and later moved to Edmonton, AB. In 1958 they relocated to Calgary where they raised their family. Art worked with Barber Industries and Elsie was a busy stay at home mom working part-time in accounting with Totem Lumber. Together, Art and Elsie were members of the Inglewood Golf & Curling Club, Calgary. In 1972 they moved to Kelowna, BC to be closer to Elsie's aging father and the thoughts of their retirement. The grandkids remember many happy Kelowna summer holidays with Gramma and Grampa in their early years. As avid golfers, it was at the Kelowna Golf & Country Club where Art and Elsie enjoyed 35 years of happiness together - Elsie was fondly known as the "Hat Lady". Their interests also included the Kelowna Curling Club where, along with Elsie's team, were proud tournament champions of that day. In Elsie's later years she enjoyed many continued friendships that came along through her Bridge Club. All of Elsie's life was devoted to the love and concern of family and the years of happiness in her beautiful gardens she took much pride in. Her tireless efforts will also be remembered in canning preserves and providing fresh produce and fruits of the garden for her table and to family and friends. Elsie always thought of the less fortunate too; giving all she could to charity and good cause. Gramma was always quick with a joke and very direct with her quirky punch lines - we will always remember the laughs we shared continuously throughout our lives. We are grateful to have been taught so much kindness through her love. Funeral Services Celebrating Elsie's Life will be held in the Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. A reception to share memories will follow at the Kelowna Golf & Country Club. She will be taken to rest at Lake View Memorial Gardens where her family will say good night and "goo-bye" Gramma - we will love you always! He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Lee, Gavin, Simon, and Alyssa and his brother Ronald (Wendy).  Earl is predeceased by his wives Dorothy (nee Lott) and Anita (nee Toupin) and his brother Lawrence (Shirley). Earl's family's roots were deep in St. Lambert, Quebec, where he grew up, and eventually married a beauty from Winnipeg (nee Dorothy Lott). He later married Anita (nee Toupin) and added 3 more of her children into his now 9 person family and moved to Hudson, QC. Earl took his childhood dream and turned it into a lifelong passion for flying. He began his career with 438th squadron (City of Montreal) flying Vampires, Sabres, T-33's, and Otters, yet at the same time flew with Trans Canada Airlines on DC-3's and retiring after 36 years as an Air Canada Captain and Flight Standards Manager on B-747's. Earl's passion for flying was infectious and through his patient teaching and attention to detail inspired and encouraged many other pilots. Earl traded the runways and airports for the greens and fairways, where he once again found the friendships and camaraderie that he held so dear. Anita and Earl spent their happiest times in retirement in Hudson, Dunedin, Florida, and lastly Kelowna. Two years ago, sadly, Earl lost Anita to cancer. A celebration of his life will be held in Hudson, QC and Kelowna, BC in May.
