WOJTULA, Derek Passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday, November 25, 2013 at the age of 63. Survived by his loving wife Val, of 30 years; daughter Lindsay of Kelowna; brother Rod (Charlotte) of Banff, AB; sister Mary Luini of Kelowna; two sisters-in-law: Jenny (Roger) White and Barbara (Mark) McGrath of England; also survived by nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his half brother James MacDonald and his brother Cyril. Derek came to Kelowna with his family 27 years ago. He owned and operated Solutions Print and Copy. Derek will be remembered for his love of golf and fishing and above all else, his love for his family. A Celebration of Derek's Life will be held on Saturday, December 28th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home Family Centre, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. WOODS, ERICA LOUISE Peacefully passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Haven Hill, Penticton, at the age of 90. Erica travelled with her parents, Jacob and Lena Friesen, as an infant from Germany to Canada and they started their life in Manitoba. She is survived by her sisters, Edith & Pete Rempel and Herta Suderman; brother, Jack and Janet Friesen. Predeceased by sisters, Lena and Ingo as well as by her husband, William Schmidt; son, Eric Schmidt; husband, Archie Woods and loving companion, Vern Shelton. Her daughters, Wanda Proulx, Leona Thornton and son, Ray and Barb Schmidt; grandchildren, Jason and Alison Schmidt, Cameron Thornton and Eric May, Jeff and Allison Schmidt and great-grandchildren, Matea, Tianna, Emily and Tyrell Schmidt and many family and friends in Manitoba, British Columbia, California and Florida will miss her so very much. Erica spent most of her life working as a care aide, and later lived and travelled throughout the US. She had a kind heart and fun spirit, ever generous and always accepting of people. She loved painting, knitting and cooking, but disliked an empty plate (always offering to get you a second or third helping). Erica was very special to many people and we will love her forever. Our family is grateful for the care from Haven Hill staff and special thanks for Dr. Wren's kindness, care and support to our mom and Oma. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 30, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., Concordia Lutheran Church, 2800 South Main Street, Penticton with Pastor Michael Schutz officiating. Reception will follow. QUIGLEY, Randy Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at the age of 64. Survived by his loving wife Arlene, of 33 years, his children: Dan of Calgary, David of Prince George, Ann (Randy) of Cochrane, Chris and Gord of Kelowna; his grandchildren: Curtis and Alicia (Josh); his mother Mary; sister Sandra (Al) of Penticton; mother and father in law: Muriel and Cecil of Vernon; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his father Gordon. Randy was a caring and compassionate man who had a passion for helping others. His devotion, kindness, quick wit, and wonderful sense of humor had a positive influence on those lives he touched. He was always happiest when surrounded by people, his family, friends, and extended family found through Rotary, Advocis, golfing buddies, business associates and clients. Thank you to the family, friends and caregivers that have provided help and support along the way. JONES, RUTH P. (nee FELKER) April 23, 1936 - November 24, 2013 Ruth (Buba) passed away in Penticton surrounded by her loving family. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered as a caring, supportive and loving mother, grandmother, aunt and good friend to all who knew and loved her. Survived by her children, Steve (Tracey) Jones of Penticton, Gary ("Sam" Cheryl) Jones of Kelowna, and Cindy (Terry) Lessard of Coquitlam; grandchildren, Garrett Jones, Leslie Lessard, Derek Jones, Michael Lessard, Dayne Jones, Christopher Jones and great grandson, Oliver Dreher. Predeceased in 2007 by her loving husband of 52 years, Doug Jones. Ruth's banking career spanned many years with the RBC in Penticton. As a top performer she won many awards, including the highly acclaimed Caribbean cruise. Ruth was also recognized and awarded the Golden Jubilee Medal for her volunteer work as a member of the Red Cross Regional Council in 2002. Ruth loved music, especially piano and in later years took piano lessons in memory of her husband, Doug. She loved downhill skiing at Apex, swimming in Skaha Lake and hiking with her many friends in the Penticton Adventurers Club. Ruth's greatest joy was spending time with her family and keeping her beloved Skaha Lake home filled with love, laughter, friends, music and good food. The family wishes to thank the nurses on the 3rd floor of PRH and at Moog & Friends Hospice House for the loving care. ROMANCHYCH, Wasylyna Lily Lily passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, November 24th, 2013 at the age of 92 years. Born on the farm near Wood Mountain, Sask. on December 20th, 1920. Survived by three daughters: Sonya (Greg) Enmark, Patricia May, and Lillian Czaplan; four sons: Steve (Roxanne), Eli (Bev), Vlad (Alice) and Boris Romanchych; fourteen grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Lily is also survived by sisters Pearl, Dora, Marion and Dolly; brothers Bill and Nick. Predeceased by husband Elias, four brothers, one sister. SALISBURY, Anne Sept. 30, 1929 - Nov. 26, 2013 In Loving Memory: Anne Salisbury (nee Grummett) Anne passed away Tuesday, November 26th at Czorny Alzheimer Centre in Surrey, BC at the age of 84. She was born in Kelowna and following a brief period in Ontario, lived in the Okanagan Valley and Delta. Anne loved cooking and baking, and reading crime and mystery novels. She especially loved travelling with her sister Della to her winter home in Yuma and playing golf with her best friend Norah. She is survived by daughter Joy (Oliver) and son Brian, four grandchildren (Gary and Darren Oliver; Katrina and Vanessa Salisbury), son-in-law Wayne Oliver, daughter-in-law Trish Salisbury, and three sisters (Doreen Schell, Fay Smith and Judy Watson). Anne had a great sense of humour and was always concerned with the needs of others. She had a fierce determination, which remained until her death. Anne was preceded in death by her husband Gary and her sister Della. The family thanks the staff at the Czorny Alzheimer Centre for their exceptional care and support. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

NUYENS, ELAINE 1934 - 2013 Elaine Margaret Sophia Nuyens (Gable) passed away peacefully with family by her side on November 26, 2013 at her home on Carrs Landing Road, Lake Country at the age of 78 years. Elaine will be lovingly remembered by her five children: Brenda Wendell (Curt), Ken Nuyens (Jill), David Nuyens, Michael Nuyens (Jocelyn), Korrina Dutot (Steve); 11 grandchildren, Geoff (Meghann), Chris (Shani), Lisa (Bob), Peter (Caley), Jason (Lisa), Cindy, Kyle, Brayden, Mitchell, Meghan, Kaitlin; 14 great grandchildren; and also by Ruth Whitson and Shirley Ritchie her two sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Elaine was predeceased by, the love of her life Ken, of 51 years. Elaine was born in Neudorf, Saskatchewan, the youngest and last of seven children, she moved to the Okanagan in the early 1950's, where she worked as a switchboard operator for the telephone company in Vernon, she moved on quickly to work for the "old" Winoka packing house in Okanagan Centre, and it was there where Elaine met Ken. They soon were married and started raising their family. They owned and operated three orchards and continued to plant out the 100 acres of orchard on Carr's Landing Road. Mom was a woman of great strength and determination, battling breast cancer for eight years; she enjoyed travelling and seeing the world and being out in the great outdoors. She loved looking out over Okanagan Lake, and watching all the animals walk, swim and fly by, Sophie, her cat will sadly miss her owner. Mom was always busy in the garden and in the last few years she enjoyed having her home surrounded with flowers and plants both inside and out. Grandma lit up when grandchildren and great-grandchildren came to visit; Mom loved having her family close so she could be surrounded with their support and love. The family would like to express gratitude to Interior Health, the Palliative Care Nurses, Advanced Care and to Doctor Tim Murphy, and we would like to give a special thanks to Lucille and Lavonda. A celebration of Elaine's (mom's) life will be at a later date in the New Year, 2014. YOUNG, Jeanne Juliette Passed away peacefully on December 1, 2013 at Orchard Manor in Kelowna, British Columbia. Jeanne was born in Wolseley, Saskatchewan on July 22, 1928 to parents Emile and Ernestine Coueslan. She is survived by her three sons and spouses, Don (Alexandra) of Calgary, Greg (Elly) of Nanaimo and Russ (Colleen) of Calgary. She also has 4 grandchildren, Jennifer (Campbell River, B.C.), Nate (Memphis, Tennessee), Logan (Nashville, Tennessee) and Madison (Calgary, Alberta) and two great grandchildren, Landon and Mallory (Memphis, Tennessee). Jeanne is also survived by her sister Simone of Regina. She was predeceased by sisters Bernadette and Theresa and brothers Francis and Rene. Jeanne spent her early years raising a family and spending time with friends in Regina. After her move to Kelowna, she led an active life and created many new friendships. Jeanne's passion was playing bridge, as well as playing golf. The family extends their deepest appreciation to the staff of Orchard Manor for their professionalism and kindness during her time there. CHUAH, Hong-Hee August 28, 1937 - November 28, 2013 It is with great sorrow that the family of Hong-Hee Chuah announces his sudden passing. Hong will by deeply missed by his loving wife, Ming, his daughter I-ju (Steve), son Ivan (Zenda) and his cherished grandchildren, Bryson, Maya, Athina, Portia, and Xander. He will be lovingly remembered by his numerous friends and relatives in Malaysia, China, and Canada. Hong graduated with a Master's Degree from Massey University in New Zealand. He enjoyed his career as an agrologist with the federal and BC governments, as well as enthusiastically serving as a consultant with the United Nations in China. He also volunteered with the Kelowna Agricultural Advisory Council. Family was most important to Hong and he spent many happy times with his family at home. He also greatly enjoyed travelling to China and many other countries. Summertime will be especially remembered by his grandchildren for the fun activities with Gong Gong and Ju Fu in the garden, pool and campfires at the cabin. Hong took great joy in being outdoors, sharing vegetables and fruit from his bountiful garden with friends, family and the food bank or going for his daily walks. He had a talent for repairing things or being inventive when solving a problem. He had an ever present enthusiasm for experiencing all that he could in the moment. Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 6, 2013 from 7 to 8 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna. DYSON, Catherine Passed away after a long and fulfilling life on Friday, November 29, 2013 at the age of 93. Mrs. Dyson was born in London, England and educated in Wales. Catherine started her nursing career in London during the Blitz in WWII, where she met the dashing Canadian soldier, Spencer, who would become her husband. Catherine was a supervisor of Nurses at Kelowna General Hospital for over 25 years. She was widowed young and brought up 4 children on her own. She was also a devoted Girl Guide leader. After her retirement she volunteered in the community with Meals on Wheels and also at OUC as an ESL and literacy tutor for adults. She is survived by her daughters Ruth O'Doherty (Michael) of West Kelowna and Penny Hicks of Kelowna; sons Clive (Cristine) of Mexico and Meredith of Prince George, BC; grandchildren Meghan O'Doherty, Donovan Hides (Jeanie), Robin Hides, Lee Dyson (Melissa Burroughs), Christine Dyson Williams (Lynn), Tim Dyson and Paige Dyson (David Ward); great grandchildren Kaitlyn, Taylor, Spencer, Dailyn, Shayla, and twins on the way; nephew Robert E. Denman (Barbara) and other extended family members. Also fondly remembered by Spencer's children from a previous marriage: Bob Dyson of Vernon, Donald Dyson (Ursula) of Chilliwack, Joan Ball of Kamloops and Reine Hitchen of Burnaby, and their families. Catherine is sadly predeceased by her husband Spencer in 1958, and her sister Greta Denman. HARTMUT (HARDY) EBERHARD REIDER Passed suddenly on Saturday, November 23, 2013. Survived by loving wife Beate (Birkner) of 41 years, daughter Andrea and Justin and precious granddaughter Ava, son Matthew and Joy. Predeceased by his father, Manfred, survived by his mother Margret, brothers Pete (Shelly), Harry and sister Patricia (Wayne), step-mother Beryl, step-siblings Gary, Karen (Jim). Also survived by the seven Birkner siblings and their spouses, family Schulze in Germany and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Hardy and Beate moved from Ontario to Kelowna, B.C. in 1997 with their children, leaving behind many family and friends but always remaining in close contact. Hardy was active in the New Apostolic Church where he served as a minister. Hardy enjoyed a long career at CBRE as senior project manager. His wisdom, thoughtful nature, strong work ethic, and constant striving for knowledge are just a few of his great qualities. He also had a great sense of humour - always surprising, and quick-witted, he brought laughter to all those around him. He loved the outdoors, fishing, cooking, music, playing guitar and singing. Hardy will be deeply missed by family, friends and colleagues. Memorial service on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at The New Apostolic Church, 155 Nickel St., Kelowna, BC. SUCHOCKI, Bruno (Bronislaw) It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Bruno (Bronislaw) Suchocki on November the 28th, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Bruno is survived by his wife of 63 years, Josephine, sons Len (Mary), Ron, daughter Barb and four grandchildren, Christey (Michael), Candice (J.S.), Kyle and Michael. Bruno was born on June 14, 1922 in Zelwa, Poland. After fighting for the allies in WWII, he immigrated to Canada, landing first in Halifax, NS. Bruno worked his way across the country finally settling in Coleman, Alberta where he worked as a coal miner. There he met and later married Josephine Mizera in 1950. In September of 1953 they moved to Agassiz, BC where they dairy farmed and raised their three children. Bruno retired in 1975. This past September, Bruno and Josephine moved once more to Kelowna, BC to be closer to family. Bruno's family would like to express thanks to the medical staff at Kelowna General Hospital, ICU nurse Karen and all the nursing staff who cared for him so compassionately in his final days and hours. Thanks also to Bruno's surgeon Dr. Jason Harris and the ICU doctors. A private family service will be held in Chilliwack and a celebration of life for family and friends will be held in Agassiz at a later date in the new year.
