McDOUGALL, Shawn Allan: Passed away suddenly at home on February 14, 2015 at the age of 45 years. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his loving wife, Leanne, children; Austin James, London Walker, parents, Al (Jean) and Linda McDougall and grandmother, Shirley Carley, sibling, Jodi (Pat) and their children; Brady and Carley of Penticton, BC as well as numerous cousins and extended family. Shawn loved playing hockey and baseball as well as watching a good football game. He loved riding his Harley but what he loved most in the world was his two sons. STILL, Susan Joan (nee Swabey): March 6, 1933 - February 15, 2015. Susan passed away peacefully the evening of February 15, 2015 in Strathmore Hospital at the age of 82 years. Susan will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Wendy Sue Still and son Thomas Henry Still as well as granddaughter Lindsey Bakker (nee Still), grandson Jeremy Still, granddaughter Michelle Blanchard and great granddaughter Emalee, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Susan was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years Edward Bruce Still as well as sons David Andrew Still and James Edward Still. Susan Began her life in Ontario to parents Harry and Bea Swabey and with only sister Yvonne Lambert (nee Swabey) - all predeceased. She married in August of 1952 and raised 4 children while pursuing a career as a Nursery School Teacher. The family moved to Penticton in 1974 and retired in Strathmore, Alberta in 1986. Susan was an active member of Girl Guides of Canada from 1974 - 2015 and was also active in her Anglican Church. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Wheatland Funeral Chapel, Strathmore at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Bryan Beveridge officiating. CONCI, "Frank” Bennett Sr.: Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 15, 2015 at the of 88 years. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by wife of 64 years, "Skip" Conci; three children; Frank Jr. (Laurie), Marianne Epp and David (Karen) all of Penticton; six grandchildren; Jim (Veronica), Briget (Mike), Rob, Jennifer (Ryan), Marlena, Lindsay, five great grandchildren; Rosemary, Emma, Logan, Adam, Mason and sister, Ramona Wells of New Mexico. Sadly predeceased by two sisters, two brothers and a son in law. Family was very important to Frank. He loved outdoor activities such as; fishing, hiking and gardening. Frank received his Armature rewinding papers during his employment with Cominco in Trail, BC. On May 15, 1957, Frank moved his family to Penticton, BC and started AC Motor Electric Ltd. He was active in the community of Penticton and was a longtime member and past president of the Rotary club of Penticton. OWENS, Dorothy: January 3, 1920- February 12, 2015. With great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Dorothy Owens, February 12, 2015 at the age of 95 Dorothy was Predeceased by her husband Edison and son Clive. She will be lovingly remembered by daughters Pat (Brian), Brenda (Colin) sons Brad (Carla), Greg (Tamara), with six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Dorothy was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for the past 50 yrs. She volunteered at the Kelowna General Hospital arranging flowers and was a devoted fan of the Kelowna Rockets. We ask that you raise a glass (or two) and toast this generous soul with a lively sense of humor who was much loved and will be forever missed. A private family function will be held in her honor.

CAMERON, David Scott "Scotty": May 2, 1969 - Jan. 30, 2015 Our Scotty passed away surrounded by love on Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital. Scotty was a gifted athlete, excelling at every sport he tried. He was a Vernon Minor Hockey and Vernon Minor Baseball rep player beginning when he was 5, but his passion was golf. Scotty's golf career started at the Vernon Golf and Country Club when he was 15. From there he moved onto the Quail Ridge, Predator, Osoyoos, Spallumcheen and Sunset Ranch Golf resorts. He was a talented golf pro and patient instructor. His love of all sports and natural athleticism opened a lot of doors for Scotty and along the way he made so many good friends. Scotty would do anything for anyone. His loving nature, sense of humour, laughter and generous spirit touched everyone he met. It was impossible not to love him. Left to mourn Scotty is his wife Tawnya, his mother Vera Cameron, mother and father-in-law Mike and Marla Mackiewich, siblings Lee Anne Cameron, Kari Cameron (Rob Ferroux), Colleen Thorlakson (Ken), Jamie Cameron (Cindy), Ted Cameron (Alicia Connolly), nieces and nephews Stephanie Cowan, Fraser Cowan, Delanie Thorlakson, Mishra Cameron, Cadence Cameron, great nephew Jacob Schaffer, brother-in-law Don Cowan, sister-in-law Twyla Ciupka (Mark), and Scotty's good friend Tom Ross, who supported Scotty through the good times and bad. Scotty was predeceased by his dad Jim Cameron and nephew Raymond James Cameron. A funeral mass was held on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic church. Scotty's family would like to thank the compassionate and caring nursing staff of 2 West, especially Allana, Sheryl, Charlene, Emily, Joanna, Kyla, Treena and Cynthia. There are no words to adequately express our heartfelt gratitude for your kindness. Special thanks to Dr. Brian Chai and Dr. Tim Gilhooly, who was Scotty's friend and doctor. WILLIAMS, Elizabeth "Bette" Elinor: (Jan 18, 1927 - Feb 14 2015). Bette passed away in the wee hours last Saturday following a lengthy illness. Bette was the youngest child born to Welsh immigrant parents, Stephen and Nellie (nee Owen) Thomas of Penticton, BC. The family arrived in Penticton in June, 1925. All their children, save Bette were born in the USA. Bette's passing represents the end of her family's generation. She is predeceased by her parents, sister Katherine (Malcolm d.1971, Ron) brothers Tom, Francis, Bill (Evelyn), Dave (Marg), Stan (Edie). Bette married RCMP Cst. Dave Williams in Penticton in Oct.1954 where he was stationed at the time. The couple adopted eldest son, David Morgan Williams at the age of 2 weeks in 1958. On April 1st, 1960, youngest son, William Scott Williams was born to the happy couple. Tragically, Scott died in June 1995 and Bette's husband, Dave, passed away in February of 1998. Bette was a gifted singer and a regular participant at the Okanagan Valley Musical Festival in the late 1930s. She studied music in New York in the early 1940s with her older cousin, recognized composer and Juilliard graduate, Frances Williams (d.1978) whose music is still being performed today. Bette enjoyed a long and loving marriage with David that saw them living at various times in BC towns: Penticton, Fernie, Victoria, and Burnaby; Fort Garry, Manitoba and finally Drumheller, Alberta. Bette suffered an aneurysm whilst visiting relatives in Penticton in 1994 which left her with short-term memory loss and increasing dementia over her final years.Upon her husband's death in 1998, Bette moved back to Victoria under the care of son, David until at-home-care was no longer feasible. In 2002, Bette moved to the James Bay Care Centre where she lived out her remaining days. Bette is survived by eldest son, David (Sue) and grandson John Elijah Williams as well as numerous nephews, nieces, grand nephews and nieces and generations to come. Fernando came to Canada in 1970 and then moved to Penticton in 1974 where he worked on his orchard. He is survived by his wife, two sons, one daughter and four grand kids. CANNARD, Lloyd Ruthven: August 1926 - February 2015. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lloyd Ruthven Cannard. He is survived by his sister Joyce Bamford of Burnaby, BC; sister-in-law Marilyn of Kelowna; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. FRENCH, Howard Gordon: Passed away on Monday, February 16, 2015 at the age of 83. Survived by his loving family, two daughters Jennifer Stephenson (Paul) of Kelowna, BC, Patricia Rintoul (Bruce) of Calgary, AB; four grandchildren: Sarah and Brian Stephenson, Stuart and Alison Rintoul. Gordon was a brother-in-law to Shirley Hunt, Richard (Patricia) Savin, Judy (Russ) Smye and Doug (Linda) Savin. Predeceased by his loving wife Joan on Dec. 15, 2014, his parents Howard W. and Lucy Irene French (nee Richardson) and his sisters Grace Stainer and Ruth Hooks. PETCH, Laurence: Passed away on February 3, 2015 at the age of 89 years. He is survived by his sister Dolores Meynell, his brother-in-law Arthur Kopp and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Vera of 64 years and his brother Doug. Laurence was born and raised in Rutland where he spent his entire life. With his brother Doug, he founded L & D Petch Contracting, Ltd, a very successful local business that he and Doug operated for many years until retirement. Laurence was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors. Later in life he especially enjoyed RVing with family and friends. He had a strong community commitment, supporting local charities as well as serving for several years on the Board of Directors of Black Mountain Irrigation District. WHITE, Charles David: Dave White passed away peacefully on Feb 17th, 2015 in Penticton, at 88 years of age. As a young man, Dave served his machinist apprenticeship in Port Alice and later moved to Kimberley to work for Cominco. He changed careers in 1952 and teamed-up with Dick Johnson to open Melody Motors, a Ford dealership. In 1969, he returned to work for Cominco and finished his career as a senior draftsman. After his retirement, Dave and his second wife, Mary, moved to Penticton where they have spent many happy years, including going south to Arizona in the winter months. Dave loved to participate in all sports with tennis and golf being two of his favourites. In Kimberley he liked to go jogging and was often seen out along the Wycliffe prairie. In later years in Penticton, he would go for bike rides along the canal. Dave was predeceased by his parents, first wife, Olga and brother, Godfrey. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary, her two daughters, Judy (Grant), Debbie (Ewen), and son, Barry (Adrienne), his two sons, Murray (Joan) and Allen (Donna), as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. MOBERG, Hilde: It is with enormous sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Hildie Moberg, at the age of 67 on Saturday, February 14th at Moog & Friends Hospice House following a courageous battle with stomach cancer. She is survived by her loving children Carrie (Andrew) and Bryan (Halley) and devoted grandsons Liam, Griffin and Quinten. Hildie was born in Aub, Germany in 1947. She moved with her family to Canada in 1951 where they settled in Lavington, BC. Hildie attended school in Vernon and moved to Sparwood after getting married to Cliff Moberg in 1968. The family then moved around BC until finally settling in Penticton in 1985. Hildie's number one job was always as a mom to her children which she also extended to many others who also called her “Mom.” In 1994 after her children left the nest, she worked in various positions including PRH, The Bay, IGA and Haven Hill. Hildie found her passion tending to the elderly and upon retirement spent countless hours volunteering at local senior centres. Throughout her life she befriended many with her wit, enthusiasm and love for making others feel better. Her smile, never ending hugs and mischievousness will be dearly missed. KAVANAGH, JOHN AIDAN JAMES "JACK": Former President and Chief Executive Officer, BC International Power Group, former Vice President, Design and Construction, Westcoast Energy, age 79, of North Vancouver, BC, died on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Lions Gate Hospital. He was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. The mother of his children, Betty Kavanagh, predeceased him. He is survived by his spouse Janet, three daughters, Tracey Kavanagh (two granddaughters, Kylie & Jenna), Wendy Kavanagh (Serge Beaudry (four granddaughters, Nicole, Natalie, Sydney & Taylor)), Kelly Kavanagh, one sister, Sheila Marie Alexander, one brother, Robert (Carol) Kavanagh and nieces and nephews. Jack received his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, followed later by an MBA from Simon Fraser University. He spent most of his career (1966-1996) with Westcoast Energy (now Spectra Energy) where he was in charge of design and construction of more than 3,000 miles of high pressure natural gas pipelines and some 28 gathering system and mainline compressor stations. The construction of the Vancouver Island Gas Pipeline system involved one of the deepest marine crossings. Jack has frequently appeared as an expert witness before the Federal Power Commission in Washington, D.C., the National Energy Board of Canada and the British Columbia Utilities Commission. Jack was active in the Westcoast Energy evaluation of the Moomba-Sydney, Australia, Pipeline Project and spent two years in Australia as the Project Manager of the Eastern Gas Pipeline, a joint venture between BHP Petroleum and Westcoast Energy where he was appointed President and Director of Westcoast Energy Australia Engineering Pty. Ltd. Jack continued to provide his expertise to the Company after his retirement. Jack was also active within the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) for over 30 years and, among other things, helped develop oil and gas pipeline standards for Canada. Jack was an avid skier (and heli-skier) who shared his passion for skiing with his daughters, granddaughters and many others. He loved the sport and volunteered at many ski racing events with the Whistler Weasels, such as, the Whistler Cup, World Cup and the 2010 Olympics and Paralympics. He also sailed off the Coast of British Columbia in many races with the crew of Moody Too. In later years he switched to power boating with Janet when they lived in the Okanagan. The Kelowna Yacht Club became a second home for Jack and he devoted many years to its service as volunteer, Director, and ultimately Commodore. Jack was a loving family man who always put his family and friends first. Jack lived life to the fullest and had many stories to tell. For those he has left behind there is an irreplaceable void, but the cherished memories of his kind and fun loving spirit will be in our hearts forever. A celebration of Jack's life will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 2:00 pm at First Memorial Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver. TILY, Ethelyn "Et" Irene (nee Felton): Feb.19, 1920- Feb. 5, 2015. Our family is very sad to announce that Et passed away on Thursday, February 5th at Abbotsford Regional Hospital in her 95th year, just two weeks shy of her birthday. She was predecessed by her husband Bill in 2011 and by her brothers Vic and Ralph Felton and her sister-in-law Dot Baulkham. Et is survived by her sister Dorothy (Dolly) Chapman of Okanagan Falls, sisters-in-law Ruth Lintott (Chilliwack) and Terry Felton (Penticton); her daughter Ruth Petrie (Mel), son Fred; grandchildren Lara, Mike (Steph), Dustin (Kaila); great grandchildren Matthew, Melissa, Sophia, Stella, and Logan Marie; and many nieces and nephews. Et was born in Vernon B.C. on February 19th, 1920 but lived most of her life in Penticton. She and Bill were married in 1940 and spent the next 67 years in the same house until they moved to Abbotsford in 2007 to live with their daughter Ruth. Their stay in Abbotsford allowed eight happy years of close contact with the local grandchildren and their families Her husband Bill worked for over 40 years with the CPR Kettle Valley Railroad and Et was very involved in the women's lodge associated with the company. Et was also very active in curling, bowling and hiking with the local naturalist club. Another active interest was the Okanagan Historical Society and she was well versed in the local history of the valley including many of the ghost towns of southern BC. Et, as the eldest sibling, was well prepared to be a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and good friend. It would be difficult to find a kinder person than Et and she was dearly loved by her family. Her family will forever fondly remember her as the "world's greatest pie maker" The family wishes to thank the various branches of the medical community for the timely and excellent care she received over the last few years, including the staff in the Palliative Care ward of the hospital. There will be no funeral service. The family will gather in Penticton in the spring to honour Et. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in her memory are asked to do so to a charity of their choice.

AUNE, Nina (nee Zibin): Oct. 23, 1943 - Feb. 18, 2015 With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our loving mother, wife and dear, dear friend. Nina passed away peacefully on February 18, 2015 at Vancouver General Hospital. Born in Nelson, BC and raised in Penticton, Nina eventually made her way to the big city to attend UBC. It was in Vancouver that she met her adoring husband Keith, and built a life filled with passion, laughter and true love. The genuine kindness and wisdom she offered everyone she met left a profound impression. Nina is predeceased by her brothers Steve Zibin and John Zibin and will be greatly missed by her husband Keith Aune, son Trevor Aune, daughter Shayna Phetsarath and son-in-law Sourigna Phetsarath. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Brian Aune, sister-in-law Ruth Glenen, nephew Jonathan Aune, sister-in-law Coleen Zibin, nieces Jendy Zibin and Kerry Zibin, sister-in-law Marg Zibin, niece Tonya Waldock and nephew Misha Zibin. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our loving mother, wife and dear, dear friend. Nina passed away peacefully on February 18, 2015 at Vancouver General Hospital. Born in Nelson, BC and raised in Penticton, Nina eventually made her way to the big city to attend UBC. It was in Vancouver that she met her adoring husband Keith, and built a life filled with passion, laughter and true love. The genuine kindness and wisdom she offered everyone she met left a profound impression. Nina is predeceased by her brothers Steve Zibin and John Zibin and will be greatly missed by her husband Keith Aune, son Trevor Aune, daughter Shayna Phetsarath and son-in-law Sourigna Phetsarath. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Brian Aune, sister-in-law Ruth Glenen, nephew Jonathan Aune, sister-in-law Coleen Zibin, nieces Jendy Zibin and Kerry Zibin, sister-in-law Marg Zibin, niece Tonya Waldock and nephew Misha Zibin. Our love for her is always and forever. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, February 26 2015 from 2-4PM at Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club located at 4300 S.W. Marine Drive. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation.
