WINTLE, Doreen Has gone to the big casino in the sky at the age of 83. Survived by her devoted husband David; daughter Gail of Prince George; two grandchildren: Julie and Stephanie; two brothers: Nick (Helen) of Kelowna, George of Port Alberni; sister Fay (Joe) of Consort, Alberta; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her first husband Jim, brothers: Alec and Bill and sister Ann. Doreen fought a long hard battle with cancer. She passed in the early hours of the morning, surrounded by family at Hospice House. She was born in Saskatchewan and moved soon after to BC and worked hard her whole life. She married Jim in 1950 and they had a daughter Gail. Jim was killed in a logging accident in 1953. A few years later, while working on the CPR ferry, she met David and they were married in 1960. Together they loved to have parties, go to the casino, flip homes and travel to Hawaii, Reno and Arizona. Her two granddaughters Julie and Stephanie held a special place in her heart. She will be sadly missed. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 1st at 4:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Centre for the Southern Interior, 399 Royal Avenue, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 5L3.
