BALKAU, Alfred With sadness we announce the passing of Alfred Balkau on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the age of 81. Survived by his loving wife Irma of 58 years; daughters: Angie Balkau (Fraser Benoit) of Blackfalds, AB, Rose Earl (deceased); son Siegfried (deceased); grandchildren: Amanda Martin (Jonathon), Meghann Schatz (Ryan), Josh Stewart, Taylor Preissl (Riley), Tanner Stewart; great grandchildren: Kenton and Tiernan Martin, Hunter and Cheyenne Preissl and Logan Schatz; brother Helmut (Brigitte); two sisters: Natalia and Gertrude and the Zerbe, Kuppers and Boyd families. Predeceased by his brother Gerhard and sister Hedwig. Alfred was a wonderful family man and our true strength. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 20th at 10:00 am at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2091 Gordon Drive, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 3J2. Interment to follow in Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery.
