van KEEKEN, FRANCES We are saddened to announce that our beloved mother, Frances van Keeken, born November 27, 1921, passed away on March 7, 2013. She was predeceased by her loving husband John and survived by her daughter, Karin Reid (husband Kerry); son, Frank van Keeken (wife Yolanda); daughter, Mary-Anne Black and her grandchildren, Raymond, Chloe, Sebastian and Francesca. Frances arrived in the country with nothing except the hopes of all new immigrants. She settled in Toronto and after having three children she and John moved to Collingwood, Ontario where she raised her family, instilling in them the virtues of hard work, and being forthright, fair and honest. In the late seventies Frances and John moved to British Columbia where they made a home in Penticton. Frances was deeply religious and devoted to the Catholic Church. Her most remarkable gift was her indomitable spirit allowing her to enjoy and survive all that life brought her way. The family wants to thank her very close friends, Amanda Hill and Sandra Brooke, who supported her through several years of illness. Frances was loved by many and she touched everyone she met. She will be sorely missed. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, (361 W. Wade Ave., Penticton) with Prayers Monday, March 11 at 7:00 p.m. also at the church. Arrangements in care of Everden Rust Funeral Services.
