HAMMELL, THOMAS CLAUD Thomas Claud Hammell, known as Claud, died on December 16, 2012 in Penticton, B.C. where he lived most of his adult life. Claud was 89 years old. Claud was born in Whitewater, Manitoba on September 20, 1923. He and his family moved to Deloraine when he was 6 years old and he spent his boyhood years on the family farm. When Claud was 18 he moved to Winnipeg where he studied radio operations. He then moved to BC where he worked for Transport Canada for 51 years. After short stints in Northern BC and on Vancouver Island, Claud was posted to Carmi and then, in 1949, to Penticton. Claud was very close to his Aunt Dogni who lived in Kelowna and spent many days off with her. They travelled together to Deloraine to visit his parents, Jim and Mary Hammell, every summer. After his father passed away, Claud travelled to Deloraine twice a year to visit his mom. Claud loved history and trains. He was an active member of the Okanagan Historical Society and other Penticton group
