KUPCHO, Mieke This announcement is made with deep sadness but endless fond memories. On February 28th, 2013 at 4PM in Vancouver, Mieke Kupcho "found her wings". Mieke is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Noel Launais, her mother Nelly, her sister Rachel, her big brother Jaro and his wife Linda, nephews Conal and Lucas and niece Lauren. Not to be forgotten are her wonderful furry companion Oscar and feathered favorite George, the Blue Fronted Amazon. Mieke was born in Ottawa on June 11, 1952 and was raised, groomed through and through in the Beaches district of Toronto/Scarborough. After school Mieke travelled extensively through Europe, visiting her friends and relations in France, Holland, Germany and Spain. Mieke was definitely a flower child, with a flower in her hair and the slogan "Make Love, not War". She even educated her French husband to be a flower child even though he thought he knew a bit about what was happening in the world. When Mieke met her Noel it was love at first sight... the rest is history. They married five years later and travelled extensively across the globe due to Noel's profession: honey-mooning in San Francisco with a second honeymoon in France. This was the start of a life of travelling. They lived in various places in the Middle East: Egypt, Kuwait and The Emirates to name a few; also Uruguay, Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil. Mieke loved Brazil and would have gone back there to live in a heartbeat. These very precious times together are engraved in our memories and won't ever be forgotten! Mieke and I loved entertaining friends with good food paired with great wines. Mieke had the knack for a fantastic Lemon Meringue pie that people remembered for years to come. My Bunny loved cooking and she really got hooked as I was a chef earlier in life. Mieke was an expert in Indian cooking and had a knack for mixing herbs and spices. During our travels she had the opportunity to be taught by an Indian chef how to make her very own curry powder the way the Indians do it. It was and still is incredible and I use it often. She later came to love Dim Sum, which was a treat every other Sunday. Mieke, like mother Nelly and sister Rachel, belonged to the "Kupcho Clan". She was outspoken, not shy as you might think at first blush. Quick on the draw, great sense of humour - sometimes a bit warped but funny, witty, outspoken, naughty if she was in the mood and a fantastic loving heart. Mieke loved animals and the natural world, and was very big on recycling and helping Mother Nature as a whole. Her sparkling bright blue eyes reflected life, love and a caring soul. She would help anyone she came across who needed her. I love you Bunny, whole bunches. Mieke will be deeply missed but never forgotten by all her friends and people that cared for her - the list too long to mention. I appreciate the fantastic support that all of you have shown through email, cards and phone messages. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

MORRISON, MARGARET 1935 - 2013 Died at Moog and Friends Hospice House on the 24th of March, 2013. She will be sorely and sadly missed by her husband of 55 years, her two daughters and sons-in-law, and her sister and brother-in-law in Scotland. Her many friends, members of the book club, and acquaintances will miss her outgoing personality and optimistic outlook on life. Born in Glasgow and emigrating to Canada, she cheerfully moved home and family seven times in eight years in Scotland, Canada and the US before finally settling in Winnipeg where she worked in the fashion industry for many years. An excellent cook, a gracious and hospitable hostess, her dinner parties were always memorable events: many a story was told and many a laugh was had between courses. She had style and charm but could hold her own in any argument if it came to it. In her later years in the Okanagan she enjoyed gardening, meeting with her book club and especially her weekly sorties to Penticton, as much to socialise and chat as to shop. Margaret we will always miss you. The family extends their thanks and gratitude to Drs Toneff, Caskey, the staff at the Penticton oncology clinic, the palliative home care nurses and Moog and Friends Hospice for their care and compassion. No funeral by request. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to SORCO (PO Box 1166, Oliver BC), SPCA Penticton, or Penticton & District Hospice Society (Moog & Friends Hospice) PO Box 1105 Penticton BC. BETUZZI, Charles William It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle Chuck (Charlie) Betuzzi on March 17, 2013 at Lakeview Lodge in West Kelowna, BC. He was predeceased by his brother John (Emma) Betuzzi, and sisters Mary (Kay) Ongaro, Gene (Rigo) Biollo and Polly (Lacey) Fisher. He is dearly remembered by his wife Merrie Betuzzi, his children Gail (Terry) Willner, Mark (Jennifer) Betuzzi, Larry (Vera) Betuzzi, Jane (Gerry) Kyle, Connie (Bill) Osborne, Kevin (Fay) Betuzzi, Anne (Rob) Boyd, Chris (Suzanne) Betuzzi, Dana (Len) Kruiper, Tim (Cecile) Betuzzi, Paula (Michael) Betuzzi. He was the proud grandfather to twenty-three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is survived by his sister Anna (Doug) Grant of Mount Vernon, WA and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was born in Summerland, BC on February 7, 1921. He lived there until the mid 1950's, playing trumpet for the Penticton Marching Band, helping his dad in the orchard, and attending school in Summerland. During World War II he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, spending most of the time in Vulcan, AB as a flying officer. Returning to Summerland he again worked in the family orchard, and played in the Summerland Marching Band. Soon after returning from the air force he married Merrie. This past September they celebrated their 65th anniversary. In the mid fifties Chuck bought land in Lakeview Heights, planted an orchard and built a house, raising his family, working the orchard and usually having another job as well, such as working on the ferry or for the "roads" or driving a school bus. He grew a large garden and participated in hunting and fishing, to supply his family with food. Our Lady of Lourdes Church in West Kelowna was a big part of his life. He was an active participant in the Knights of Columbus and helping with all the church activities. He also helped the West Kelowna Food Bank for many years. Dad spent many years as a volunteer fireman in Lakeview Heights. Chuck and Merrie lived in their home in Lakeview Heights until 2010. They then moved to Westwood in West Kelowna and only recently moved to Lakeview Lodge. The family would like to extend thanks to both places for the wonderful care given. Also thanks to Bayshore for the wonderful care aids that were sent to assist and be companions to Merrie and Chuck. His many friends and relatives are invited to prayers on Monday, April 1, 2013 at 7:00 pm and a funeral mass at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 2, 2013. Both will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes, 2547 Hebert Road, West Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Chuck's memory to Development and Peace, 1425 Rene-Levesque Blvd West, 3rd Floor, Montreal, QC H3G 1T7.
